Each quarter 8th graders are expected to read novels or non-fiction works outside of class.  The number of pages read per quarter will determine a portion of their grade, equal to about one-third of the total quarter points.  The following chart gives approximate pages and letter grade equivalents.  Average book length works out to be 250 pages.  However, some of you may be choosing books that are 500+ pages long!  That's great too!  The pages totals are firm, the number of books is not.

A+=1500 or more pages (6+ books)
A=1250 pages (5 books)
A-=1000 pages (4 books)
B+=950 pages
B=850 pages
B-=750 pages (3 books)
C+=700 pages
C=600 pages
C-=500 pages (2 books)
D+=450 pages
D=350 pages
D-=250 pages (1 book)
F=0 pages (0 books)
